Show: COPS) Number 1, the federal government has decided to break up the consentration of DEA along the South Florida coast and in and around the ports. Oh yeah, there are still plenty of cops here, but word has it that you can actually travel through Ft. Lauderdale or Miami International Airports w/ cash in your pocket and NOT have it pillaged by a couple of DEA officers who never get around to pressing charges. (Again, this is what I hear. I don't know about you but I'm not quite ready to try it myself) Number 2, the new sherrif has been threatened with losing control of several of the citys which (since Uncle Nick's reign) have been policed by the sherrif's office. His response? NONE! Now, having lived in So Florida all my life and having seen the same attitude among government types all over the world (I speak of So. Florida because I'm here and can see it first hand) I'm WAY too cynical to take it on faith that these people might be intentionally headed in the right direction. It wouldn't supprise me if the new sherrif simply never got the message from his secretary and the DEA presense was just making way for a new military installation or CIA operation. My question to this group is this: Has anyone else seen (first hand) sings of hope? -- Ginger Warbis | McGruff says "Help take a bite out of gwarbis@sefl.satelnet.org | white collar crime; Stop Legislation | BEFORE it Happens!" --- * Origin: COBRUS - Usenet-to-Fidonet Distribution System (1:2613/335.0)
